WHO: The League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area (LWVSPA)
WHAT and WHEN: LWVSPA announces publication on its website of the 2013 Voter Guide for the St. Petersburg Municipal Election. The Voter Guide was posted at www.lwvspa.org on Monday, October 1, the same day the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections office was scheduled to begin sending vote-by-mail ballots to voters. The Municipal Election is set for Tuesday, November 5, 2013.
DETAILS: The Guide is divided into six sections: All Candidates, Mayoral, and Council Districts 2, 4, 6, and 8. As with the Mayoral selection, all City Council candidates will be voted upon at large in this citywide election.
Each candidate write up includes a list of the duties and powers of the office, the candidate’s personal and contact information, community involvement and public service history, and verbatim responses to a series of questions, the same ones asked of each candidate for a particular office. The responses are exactly as submitted. No editing, spelling or grammar corrections have been made.
The nonpartisan St. Petersburg Area League created the Voter Guide to inform and assist voters in their ballot choices. Candidates’ views are their own and do not represent those of the League of Women Voters.
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
