|United Way Day of Caring volunteers will complete projects in DeSoto, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pinellas and Sarasota counties.
On Thursday, October 3, nearly 2,000 volunteers will join forces to tackle 183 projects at local social service agencies, schools and other organizations. From painting to gardening, from refinishing furniture to cleaning windows and walls, the volunteers will help with projects that the agencies might not have the manpower for or be able to afford.
This year, United Way of Manatee County and United Way Suncoast have joined forces for Day of Caring. The volunteers are from local companies who support their communities by sending teams of employees to volunteer for the day. More than 105 companies signed up this year to help with projects in DeSoto, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pinellas and Sarasota counties.
“Ours is a generous community, and Day of Caring is one of the many ways people change the story for local non-profits,” says Diana Baker, President and CEO of United Way Suncoast. “Our partner agencies and our corporate partners look forward to Day of Caring every year. We’re especially pleased to be coordinating our efforts across the region with United Way of Manatee this year.”
The value of the donated work is $265,680*, amounting to 1,500 days or 300 weeks of work in just one day.
Together, we can accomplish more than any single group can on its own. Each of us plays a part. Thank you to all those who chose to LIVE UNITED.
