For their semester project, a class led by Assistant Professor Matt Normand in University of South Florida St. Petersburg’s Program in Graphic Design broke into groups and was assigned the Tampa Bay Partnership as a client. Each group created a 1 to 2 minute public service announcement (PSA) for the Partnership’s “Together, Tampa Bay Shines” campaign, celebrating all that Tampa Bay has to offer as a place to live, work, learn and play.

The Tampa Bay Partnership has developed a mapping technology to showcase the region’s thriving Applied Medicine and Human Performance (AMHP) sector. The interactive map offers insights on area research institutions, clinical trials, medical device manufacturers/services, AMHP workforce assets and hospitals. Users can also view economic development organizations, Enterprise Zones, Brownfield Areas, counties and political districts. Find the map at map.tampabay.org.
MED Week Tampa Bay: Oct. 1 – 4
This year’s Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Coference will focus on enhancing business opportunities and highlighting the significant contributions made by minority-owned businesses in the Tampa Bay area.
Do you know a student ready to be a Next Generation Entrepreneur?
The Next Generation Entrepreneurs program introduces high school juniors and seniors to the principles of customer value creation, innovation and what it takes to be an entrepreneur. The year-long competition will include business plan training, creativity workshops and mentoring for the top 10 semifinalists, and $10,000 in start-up funding for the winning individual or team. Online applications must be submitted by Oct. 18.

The research also found that small businesses assisted by the FSBDCs are growing at a much faster rate than the average Florida firm, and that the FSBDC helps create high-skill, high-wage jobs in the state.
