Partnership’s walking tour program combines fitness with culture and community
Tampa, FL (September 25, 2013) – Beginning In its sixth season this Friday, October 4, Tampa Downtown Partnership’s “Do the Local Motion” (DTLM) FREE lunchtime walking tour program combines fitness with culture and community, and contributes to the economics and tourism in Downtown Tampa!
How does the walking tour combine the components of fitness, culture, community, economics and tourism?
Fitness = One-hour to help get you in shape (one to two miles)
Culture & Community = Attendees learn about a different downtown live-work-play-learn attribute – Partnership President, Christine Burdick said, “One of the reasons we love this program is whether you are a downtown newcomer or have worked here for many years, you are bound to discover a nook or cranny that you never knew about.” Tour themes include public art, architecture, history, cultural attractions, parks, holiday décor and more. Expert guides from area businesses are invited to lead the group tours.
Economics & Tourism = As reported by participating businesses and cultural destinations, the exposure the program provides encourages future patronage by attendees – Kurdi’s Fresh Mediterranean Grill, for one, reported a boost in their lunchtime business after one of the DTLM tours stopped for a free snack.
The first three months of the program have been scheduled as follows:
Friday, October 4 Architectural Assets Featuring AIA Tampa Bay
Friday, October 18 Tampa’s Illicit past Featuring USF History Department
