Opened since Sept. 22, 2012, The Gulfside Center for Hospice Care at Pasco Regional Medical Center is designed to serve terminally ill patients who are no longer benefiting from curative care and cannot be adequately managed at home. Gulfside’s staff work in the center, which has its wing at Pasco Regional Medical Center, and operate independently from the hospital. The Center is located on the second floor at 13100 Fort King Road in Dade City, and Gulfside’s wing includes six private rooms for patients.
“The care given by their healthcare team offers dignity, peace and comfort to patients with a life-limiting illness,” said Shauna McKinnon, CEO of Pasco Regional Medical Center. “And, the support they extend to the patient’s family is priceless. We are proud to partner with Gulfside Regional Hospice.”
The residence serves residents in east Pasco and is the first hospital-based hospice unit in Pasco County. The Center features six private rooms, each with a private bathroom. Accommodations are available in each room for family to stay overnight with their loved ones and visitors are allowed 24-hours a day at the facility. The in-patient unit also features a serene family room for all visitors to enjoy.
Since the Center at Pasco Regional Medical Center opened, more than 225 patients have received care at the facility.
“The Gulfside Center for Hospice Care at Pasco Regional Medical Center is privileged to serve east Pasco residents at the end-of-life,” said Linda Ward, President and CEO of Gulfside Regional Hospice. “We are honored and proud to partner with this fine hospital, and we hope that this partnership continues for many years to come.”
On Sept. 24, Gulfside staff, Pasco Regional Medical Center staff and family members of patients celebrated the first anniversary at the Center with cake and coffee in the family room.
