SARASOTA, Fla. (Sept. 24, 2013) –Thanks to a generous gift made to Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Inc. by Mr. and Mrs. William Weiss, an endowment has been created that will fund operations of Sarasota Memorial’s new Chapel of Faith in perpetuity.
Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the chapel on Sept. 12, presentations were made by foundation CEO Alex Quarles, hospital CEO Gwen MacKenzie, and Chaplain John Gerhardt, Ms. Quarles presented the Weisses with a framed photo of the stained glass window.
Conveniently located on the first floor of the Waldemere Tower, the nondenominational chapel reflects the soothing, healing environment the hospital created in its new Courtyard Tower and surrounding park spaces, as well as other facility renovations. It features a beautiful stained glass window, comfortable seating, and large windows overlooking the new Courtyard Tower’s EPIC Park.
“Sarasota Memorial is dedicated to supporting not only the physical needs of our guests, but their emotional and spiritual needs, too,” said Chaplain Gerhardt. “The new chapel will be a peaceful, beautiful sanctuary that’s easy for everyone to access.”
