|BRADENTON, FL, September 24, 2013– Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee is pleased to announce that Manatee County Board of County Commissioners have proclaimed September 24, 2013 as Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee Day.
Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee delivers healthy meals to the homebound and assists individuals to live independently by providing nutrition and caring supportive services throughout Manatee County. Over the years, the “PLUS” was added to the name as Meals on Wheels expanded its services and operations to include The Food Bank of Manatee, Daybreak Adult Day Care Center, Senior Lunch Club and Friendship Dining, and Senior Wheels. Meals on Wheels PLUS also operates Renaissance on 9th, featuring the Senior Enrichment Center for active seniors over 50, offering classes, fitness center, the 9th Street Bistro, Turner Ballroom, Generations Gift Shop, and 2nd Generation Thrift Shop.
Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee was recently named 2013 Overall Nonprofit of the Year and 2013 Health and Human Services Nonprofit of the Year by Tampa Bay Business Journal.
