Tampa, Fla. – September 23, 2013 — Bob Helms, chairman and CEO of Pegasus TransTech, has been named the 2013 Outstanding Leader of the Year by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. Helms received the award in front of a sold-out crowd Friday night at the Tampa Convention Center as part of the 2013 Small Business of the Year awards ceremonies. Pegasus TransTech Corporation, also a recipient of the 2012 Small Business of the Year award by the Chamber provides software solutions that help companies go paperless, reduce costs and improve operating efficiency. Bob Helms has led the company since 2001.
During his acceptance speech, Helms recognized the Chamber and congratulated the other four finalists and his employees. Helms continued, “Coaches don’t win National Championships, TEAMS DO!! So I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the employees of Pegasus TransTech. Thank you for making our team a success! I will personally cherish this evening as one of the all-time great moments of my career.”
After assuming leadership of the company in 2001, Helms led the Pegasus TransTech team to develop a number of innovative products and services that materially improve the operating efficiency and profitability of its customers. By adding over 12,000 customers and almost 1,000 Strategic Channel Partner locations, the company has achieved more than 30 consecutive quarters of growth and profitability – even through the recession. 2013 is on track to become another record year.
In competition against multi-billion dollar corporations, Pegasus TransTech under Helms has not only established a market leadership role, but a solid industry wide reputation for quality, integrity, reliability, and practical innovation.
In addition to leading Pegasus TransTech, Helms is active in a number of Tampa charities and service organizations including serving as president and a member of the board of directors of Toymakers of East Lake. Toymakers is a local non-profit that provides hand-made wooden toys to sick and needy children and meaningful volunteer opportunities for adults, seniors, and Bright Futures students. Helms is also a member of the CEO Council of Tampa Bay and the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the executive committee of the American Trucking Associations Allied Committee for the Trucking Industry (ACT 1) and is a member of the Truckload Carriers Association.
The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce has conducted the Small Business of the Year awards since 1981.
