Tampa, FL – Fowler White Boggs was named Tampa Bay’s Overall Healthiest Employer by the Tampa Bay Business Journal (TBBJ) at an awards ceremony held on Thursday, September 12. This marks the second time the firm has been honored as the Overall Healthiest Employer. With a total score of 92.5 out of 100, as determined by an independent research company used by the TBBJ, Fowler White beat out 26 other companies for the honor.
As a firm at the forefront of employee wellbeing, Fowler White Boggs has created innovative programs that support employees in making decisions toward a healthy and balanced lifestyle both in and out of the office. The firm’s “Balanced Benefits” offer discounts of up to $1,440 per year on health insurance premiums for employees who improve their health. Employees voluntarily participate in on-site biometric screenings called “Know Your Numbers” where they are tested in key health risk categories, then track their scores and set individual goals for improvement. The firm supports employees’ goals through a Wellness Reimbursement Fund, on-site boot camp, weekly yoga classes, massages, healthy foods such as “Fruit on Fridays,” an on-site oatmeal bar, and 100% coverage for any preventative care under its health plan.
“We have seen a significant return on our investment with health care costs for employees meeting 3-4 of the firm’s healthy criteria being about four times less than those who don’t,” said James F. King, COO. “We are committed to sharing those savings through lower health care premiums with those employees who make healthy choices that produce results.”
Fowler White Boggs’ innovation in the areas of health and wellbeing has also landed the firm recognition as a Platinum Level Fit-Friendly Company by the American Heart Association (AHA) in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Rhea F. Law, CEO and Chair of Fowler White’s Board of Directors, was recently appointed chair of the AHA’s Tampa Bay Metro Board of Directors. “It’s because we have such great support at all levels inside and outside our firm that we can continue to innovate and push the envelope,” Ms. Law said. “I want to thank everyone involved in our success.”
Craig M. Urquhart, Senior Vice President of CCFN, the firm’s health insurance broker and a key wellness partner added, “Most of my clients talk about wellness, and seek my advice on what to do about it. I love working with Fowler White because they bring their ideas to me first, which I then help them develop and implement.”
