|Student Blood Donors ReceiveScholarships
Sarasota, FL– Thirty-eight high school seniors from Sarasota,Manatee and Desoto counties were recently awarded a total of $20,000 inscholarships from Suncoast Communities Blood Bank (SCBB). SCBB is committed tocultivating the next generation of blood donors through its Generation Give scholarshipprogram. Studies show that individuals who are introduced to the importance ofdonating blood at a young age are more likely to become donors for life.
Since the scholarship program beganin 2006, more than $120,000 has been awarded to SCBB student blood donors andvolunteers. To be eligible, a student must participate in three school blooddrives their senior year, by promoting the drive, donating blood, or helpingthe day of the blood drive.
