Funds raised support Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign ending childhood hunger in America
SARASOTA, Sept. 11 — More than 16 million American children face hunger. This September, Café L’Europe on St. Armands Circle joins thousands of restaurants nationwide to support Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign by raising funds in their restaurants. During the month “L’Europe goes Orange for Hunger” the iconic 40 year old fine dining restaurant will donate 100% of all dessert sales through the end of September to the national campaign. For more information about this program, please visit cafeleurope.net or nokidhungry.org.
Café L’Europe owner Betsie Coolidge said, ‘We are excited to participate with this national campaign. Not only does it give us the opportunity to help our children, it gives our guests the opening to pitch in and help too. Together, we’re all working together to make a difference.”
In 2012, restaurants raised $5.9 million for the No Kid Hungry campaign—funds are used to raise awareness about child hunger in the U.S.; create public-private partnerships that align kids with the resources they need; support nutrition programs like School Breakfast and Summer Meals; and educate kids and their families on how to cook healthy meals with limited resources.
“Everyone—private citizens, businesses, policymakers, and nonprofits—has a role in helping end childhood hunger in America,” said Billy Shore, Founder and CEO of Share Our Strength®. “I encourage everyone to dine out often at participating restaurants wherever they are this September. Then visit NoKidHungry.org to join this national movement to ensure that every child in America has access to the nutritious food they need, every day.”
