Clearwater-based marketing company quickly rallies together to raise funds for Wendy, who is battling Stage 4 Breast Cancer.
June 1st, 2013 Clearwater, FL — PostcardMania, a Clearwater-based marketing company, has been doing its part to help Wendy, the sister of Chief Operational Officer Melissa Bradshaw, fight Stage 4 Breast Cancer. This team of marketers started a Help Wendy Get Well campaign, which included clothing drives, assistant-for-day auctions and raffles. The CEO even spent an afternoon in a dunk tank to raise funds for Wendy’s treatments.
All together, PostcardMania’s team raised $9,510 on the behalf of Wendy in only two short months! Here’s a breakdown of how they did it…
Their first effort was a clothing drive, where employees brought in clothing items they thought could fetch a good price at their clothing sale. The clothing sale was a huge success, generating $1,500 for the Help Wendy Get Well Fund.
PostcardMania’s team then held a raffle for a free Apple iPad — but with a twist. They gave their employees some extra motivation to sell the most raffle tickets by giving the winners a PostcardMania executive as their assistant for a day. Rob Bradshaw (Vice President of Sales) won CEO Joy Gendusa as his assistant for a day, but he also served for a day as the assistant to fellow contest winner, Mike Lisi (Chief Technology Officer). Other notable winners were Marketing Consultant Erica Switzer, who won PostcardMania President Jennifer Custer as her assistant for the day, and Lori Pendleton, who had COO Melissa Bradshaw as her assistant-for-a-day. Finally Jill Mantalas, an employee in the Accounting department, beat out the rest of the contenders to win Chief Marketing Officer Sarah Kicinski as her assistant-for-a-day. The raffle was a huge success, generating $7,750 for the Help Wendy Get Well fund.
The most recent fundraising event took place at the company picnic, where employees reveled in the opportunity to send their CEO into a dunk tank, while donating to support Wendy’s fight against Breast Cancer. Joy Gendusa commented, saying, “PostcardMania is a family, which makes Wendy our extended family. A few dunks in a pool is the least I could do to help Wendy battle this horrific disease.”
The dunk tank event raised an additional $260 for the fund, bringing the total to $9,510. With the support of her family, friends, and PostcardMania’s Help Wendy Get Well fund, Wendy continues to battle to have herself counted among the ranks of cancer survivors.
