SARASOTA, FL August 27, 2013 – The Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (CWC-FPRA) welcomed its 2013-2014 Board of Directors and celebrated Chapter Awards winners at its August professional development lunch meeting at The Meadows Country Club in Sarasota.
The event, which brought back the honored tradition of the passing of the gavel by former Presidents of CWC-FPRA, was a true celebration of the past year of successes and opportunities for the upcoming year.
Special guest speaker was Mr. John Horne, owner of Anna Maria Oyster Bar and community leader, who addressed the group on the importance of inspired leadership in our community.
Board installation was conducted by Mr. Chris Gent, APR, CPRC, who is current State President of the Florida Public Relations Association. The new board includes:

The Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) has been serving Florida public relations professionals for 70 years, being founded in 1938 by Lt. Col. John W. Dillin. FPRA is the oldest public relations organization in the United States. There are 15 professional chapters and many university chapters located throughout Florida, including the Central West Coast Chapter. The Central West Coast Chapter was formed in 1966 and has more than 120 members from Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties.
