Local Boy Makes Good
TAMPA, Fla. (August 28, 2013) – Tampa Bay native and recent University of South Florida graduate Nick Augeri has recently launched his new product, the Snapback Slim wallet, on creative project funding website, Kickstarter.com.
Kickstarter is an online community dedicated to raising funds for new, creative projects for everything from films, games, music, art, design, technology and more. People from all across the world join every day to directly support new products, designs, and innovations by pledging funds. Since its inception in 2009, more than 4.7 million people have pledged over $760 million, funding more than 47,000 creative projects.
“After having a difficult go at finding a full-time position in the competitive job market of Tampa Bay, I decided to create the Snapback Slim to take my success into my own hands,” said Augeri. “It’s a product I believe in and it feels good to see that it has already received overwhelming support from people across the country and the world. I am very optimistic about this project being fully funded and I’d love to see a Kickstarter success story come from a Tampa Bay local.”
The Snapback Slim is a wallet designed for minimalists who like to hold it all without the bulk. It can hold up to ten credit cards, folded cash and receipts in a simple, sleek design. So far, the Snapback Slim has attracted backers from across the U.S., as well as international backers from Germany, Singapore, Chile and the Netherlands, to name a few. Since the project’s launch six days ago, it has received over $4,500 towards its $10,000 goal. In order for the project to be fully funded, it will need to reach 100% of its goal by September 27, 2013.
Augeri hand-designed the Snapback Slim and went through a variety of channels for the prototyping phase, working closely with his manufacturer from the Melbourne, Fla. area. He utilized other Tampa Bay-based businesses to help launch his project page on Kickstarter including his photographer and video production company.
