LAKELAND, Fla. (August 28, 2013) – The retail shops and restaurants in the Dixieland CRA are kicking off their monthly Last Friday event this Friday, August 30th. More than 15 participating businesses will feature one-of-a-kind art, shopping specials, entertainment and/or special drawings. This creative, eclectic and vibrant community would like visitors from all areas of Polk County to come out and enjoy extended business hours until 9:00pm.
The Last Friday “footprint” includes New York Avenue, South Florida Avenue and Tennessee Avenue between Palmetto Street and Ariana Street. After 9:00pm, be sure to check out the bars and restaurants for after-hours fun. Attendees are encouraged to bicycle or walk using the improved alleys in the district. Public parking lots are located on the west side of Florida Avenue, just north of Hunter Street and on the east side of Florida Avenue just south of W. Park Street.
About Dixieland Community Redevelopment Area
The Dixieland CRA was created in 2001 and contains 220 parcels of property encompassing approximately 73 acres of land. All redevelopment activities are funded by tax increment financing in an effort to support and attract businesses to the district.
