Tampa, FL, August 25, 2013 – The Tampa Attractions Association (TAA) is activating the Tampa Bay waterfront once again, and at a unique time of year from when they have before. This Sunday, September 1st 2013 they will host their inaugural Labor Day event; Downtown Tampa’s Summer Light up the Night: a summertime lighted boat parade and fireworks celebration. This multi-location event will include a lighted boat parade that is open to boat, kayaks and paddleboards as well as live entertainment at multiple viewing locations as well as a fireworks display choreographed to music.
At 6:00pm live entertainment will start at multiple locations along the parade route, including where the boats will be launching (later that evening) at the Sail Pavilion at the Tampa Convention Center and in the Channel District/Channelside at the Boat House Bar (center of Channelside).
At 8:30pm you can get a front row view of our spectacular fireworks show directed to music and launched off a barge in the Garrison Channel. These fireworks festivities can be seen from Channelside Bay Plaza, The Florida Aquarium, the S.S. American Victory Ship, The Yacht Starship, Cotanchobee Park, the Marriott Waterside, Harbor Island, the Tampa Bay Times Forum, the Sail Pavilion and Bayshore Boulevard.
This exciting event is great way to gather up the family and head anywhere along the parade route to view the parade or fireworks. In addition, the Channel District provides plenty of entertainment options including visiting The Florida Aquarium who will be offering extended hours to include the fireworks display, a party with a DJ on the American Victory Ship (with food trucks on the pier and beer, wine and non alcoholic beverages on the ship) or getting up close to the action aboard the Yacht Starship dinner cruise. Channelside Bay Plaza’s unique and compelling restaurants will also provide a great viewing location and fun for the family.
After the fireworks, the lighted boats will head back to the Sail Pavilion where prizes will be awarded to the judges overall winners with the top prize being $2,500.00 in cash. Boaters, kayaks and paddleboards must be registered to be included for the prizes and it is NOT TOO LATE to register! Visit www.funintampabay.com and click on the boat parade tab to register today!
Parking for the fireworks will be available in Channelside, but spots will fill up quickly so event goers are encouraged to also utilize Tampa’s TECO Line Streetcar System and parking in Ybor City. What could be more of an exhilarating way to spend this Labor Day weekend than experiencing all that downtown Tampa has to offer with this free event!
