Yoga Class for a Good Cause
Tampa, FL, August 13 — September is National Yoga Awareness Month, a time to educate and promote the benefits of yoga and a healthy lifestyle, and also Hunger Action Month. To honor this and to give back to the Tampa community in a positive way, Bella Prana Yoga and Meditation Center and local yoga instructor, Ashley Halley, are offering a donation-based class on September 21st. All donations raised will be given to the organization, Feeding America Tampa Bay.
Local yoga instructor, Ashley Halley, is generously donating her time and leading this class to raise funds for a cause she strongly believes in. As a yoga instructor and personal trainer, Ashley advocates and teaches the importance of healthy eating.
“The food we put in our bodies directly affects everything we do. It affects our moods, the relationships we have, even our ability to stay focused and think clearly. When I hear of children going to school hungry or full of processed foods, it makes me so sad. I know they can’t be living up to their potential when this is what is fueling their mind. I wanted to do what I could to raise the awareness that there are ways to help right here in our own community,” says Ashley.
Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. These are often hard-working adults, children, and seniors who cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals or even days. Feeding America Tampa Bay works on a local level with a network of hunger relief organizations to provide access to healthy foods for those in need. Access to fruits and vegetables and training about diet-based diseases is also a part of their mission.
“September is Hunger Action Month, dedicated to an awareness of America’s hunger issues, and a wonderful time to partner with local supporters to raise our community’s awareness and contribute to the food bank’s mission here in Tampa Bay,” said Thomas Mantz, executive director at Feeding America Tampa Bay. “We are grateful to Ashley and the folks at Bella Prana Yoga and Meditation Center for sharing their celebration with us.”
Yoga Bootcamp is a completely new format to the Tampa fitness scene. It is a one hour class blending yoga and strength training to increase endurance, stability, focus, and power. In this hour long class, you will use resistance bands, interval training, cardio bursts, and targeted yoga stretching. Always fun and playful, this is not your typical yoga class. Open to all levels- just be prepared to sweat for a good cause!
Class will take place at Bella Prana Yoga and Meditation Studio, 1000 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa FL 33606, Saturday September 21st from 3:00 P.M. – 4:30 P.M. Studio owner, Roni Sloman says, “Feeling good, doing yoga, giving back, maintaining health- it’s all related. We are excited about the event and happy to be a part of it.”

About Feeding America Tampa Bay
Founded in 1982, Feeding America Tampa Bay makes a difference in the lives of thousands of people each week through its distribution to a partnership network of more than 600 faith-based and other incorporated non-profit hunger relief organizations. The food bank serves a food-insecure population of close to 700,000 residents across West Central Florida; 250,000 of those struggling with hunger in the area are children. Receiving surplus food donations from growers, manufacturers, supermarkets and organized community food drives, Feeding America Tampa Bay supplied more than 35 million pounds of food to its 10-county service area in the past year – enough to provide more than a million and a half meals every month to those who would otherwise go hungry.
