E.C. Williams, executive vice president and chief operating officer of GTE Financial since June 2010, retired on August 16, 2013, after twenty-three years of leadership in the financial services industry.
Under Williams’ leadership, GTE underwent a corporate rebrand after 77 years from GTE Federal Credit Union to GTE Financial, as well as made one of the industry’s most successful turnarounds with increases in growth, lending and return-to-member. In addition to surpassing 200,000 members in May of 2012 with over 10 percent member growth and an 11percent Net Worth increase over 2010 figures, GTE experienced tremendous home loan growth and is currently ranked 34th in mortgage lending of nearly 7,000 national credit unions.
“When you talk about leadership, E.C. was undoubtedly that. But, for me, it goes beyond that,” says GTE Financial President and CEO Joe Brancucci. “He is a great man with integrity, and his sincere love for family, friends and colleagues has inspired this organization. We are sad to see him retire, but are excited to continue to evolve what he helped ignite.”
Before joining GTE Financial, Williams worked for Grow Financial, formerly MacDill Federal Credit Union, from 1990 to 2010 as Money Management Officer, Collections Manager, AVP Operations, SVP, and ultimately EVP and COO.
Williams was a frequent speaker and instructor for both the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU), as well as served as Chairman of the Executive Committee for the CUNA Lending Council and a board member of their Council Forum. He was also Chairman of the Board for the Florida Indirect Lending Association and Chair of the Audit Committee for Prime Alliance Solutions, Inc.
Prior to his credit union service, Williams. retired from a long and distinguished military career, serving in the United States Navy immediately after graduating high school. Williams. graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Leo University with a B.A. in Human Resources Administration.
