PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (August 22, 2013) – Gulfside Regional Hospice named Peggy Hess its Outstanding Employee of the Year at a Wizard of Oz themed-luncheon held Aug. 16 at Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club in San Antonio.
Hess, the crisis intervention specialist for the organization, began at Gulfside in November 2006. In her current position, which she began in July, she works closely with Gulfside’s psychosocial staff to help with higher risk patients and their families. She has previously served as a social worker and social worker mentor to other social workers at the organization.
Every employee was able to nominate co-workers for the award, and a committee made up of Gulfside executives, board members and volunteers selected the winners. “I feel honored to win the Outstanding Employee of the Year award,” Hess said. “I love what I do, and think there are so many deserving people at Gulfside who also could have won the award.”
At Gulfside’s Outstanding Employee of the Year Luncheon, 37 employees from the previous fiscal year were highlighted with a reason why they were nominated for the award. For her accomplishment, Hess won $1,000 and a plaque showing the honor.
“Peggy exemplifies the qualities of a role model, a steward, a service provider, and a compassionate advocate for hospice care,” said Linda Ward, Gulfside’s president and CEO. “Peggy’s dedication to our patients and their families is tireless and she is a true reflection of the hospice mission.”
Also at the luncheon, Gulfside employees with one, five and 10 years of service received a special pin and recognition for their time working with the hospice. In addition to the Outstanding Employee of the Year Award, other awards were given to highlight employees. Awards included:
• Evelyn Adler, RN – Stewardship Award
• Charlene Gill, Hospice Aide – Hospice Hero Award
• Brandie Story, RN – Heart of Hospice Award
• Laura Toth, Manager of Inpatient Care – Leadership Award
