Tampa, Fla. ─ The David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts has announced that Rossi J. Craft has joined the staff as director of operations. Craft will oversee the production, security and patron services departments.
Craft comes to the Straz Center from the Arts Council of York County Community Performance Center in Rock Hill, S.C., where he served as director of operations, and from a 12-year stint as the director of theater operations at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte, N.C.
Craft has served as president of his own South Carolina-based, full-service audio/visual firm, RJC Consulting, Inc., and has worked with such artists as Ray Charles, Bruce Hornsby, Elton John and Stevie Ray Vaughn. He has designed audio systems for the North Carolina Dance Theatre, Z-max Dragway, Bank of America and the Charlotte Knights Baseball Club.
Opening in 1987, the Straz Center consists of five theaters, three restaurants and the Patel Conservatory. The 335,000 square-foot facility provides an environment for a wide variety of world-class events. It boasts one of the nation’s leading Broadway series and is nationally respected for presenting a wide variety of concerts, performances and events and, of course, for its resident company Opera Tampa.
