Emerson Forum- Stetson Law/Tampa- Sat. Sept. 7th- 10 a.m.
What Pets, Vets, Funeral Directors and The Former CEO of Tropicana
Can Teach Us About Life and Death
If you have, had or anticipate having a pet, like the majority of Americans, you may find and share some remarkable stories, wisdom, insights and emotions on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the second annual Emerson Forum (www.emersonforum.org), at the Stetson College of Law Center in downtown Tampa, 1700 N. Tampa Street, three blocks north of the Straz Center.
Beyond dealing with end of life decisions for pets and people, this year’s conference will celebrate National Pet Memorial Day, which is held annually on the second Sunday in September.
Three experts will first share their very diverse perspectives. Then, all who attend the conference will be invited to share stories and pictures of their pets—past, present or future.
Dr. Dani McVety, a nationally-known veterinarian and the founder of Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice (www.lapoflove.com), will provide the keynote address: “What We Can Learn About Life From The Death Of A Pet.” Dr. McVety also lectures at the University Of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.
Nikki McQueen, the vice president of Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes and Tribute Center will describe the common grief shared by pet owners and families in dealing with the death of loved ones—both pets and humans.
Brock Leach, the vice president of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee in Boston, will share his perspectives as a pet owner, former chaplaincy student and international business executive. He previously served as President and CEO of the North America and Tropicana divisions of parent company PepsiCo and as Pepsi’s Chief Innovation Officer.
Tickets may be purchased online for $ 25 ($ 15 for seniors and students) at http://emersonforum.tix.com .
