Hillsborough County’s Fire Rescue Department, its Office of Emergency Management, and the Community Affairs team will be hosting Prepare Hillsborough for all Hillsborough County employees and their families on Friday, Aug. 9 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. This lunchtime disaster preparedness event will take place at two locations: the lobby at County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa; and the lobby at Brandon Support Operations Complex, 332 N. Falkenburg Road in Tampa.
Prepare Hillsborough aims to assist Hillsborough County staff members with all aspects of preparing themselves, their families, and their homes for disasters. This is particularly important as County employees are among the first-responders who provide critical services to the greater community during times of disaster.
The American Red Cross, TECO and other community partners will join a variety of essential Hillsborough County agencies to offer resources at both event locations for Prepare Hillsborough.
As the height of the 2013 storm season approaches, experts also advise residents and businesses to finalize disaster plans and check all supplies now. The public is also urged to sign up to receive Alert Center emergency information from Hillsborough County via email at www.HillsboroughCounty.org/NotifyMe.
