He’s referred to as a “leader by example” by Gwynne A. Young, president of the Florida Bar.
(Sarasota, FL) William E. Partridge, who heads the Sarasota law office of Grossman Roth and Partridge, was recently recognized as one of 75 South Florida attorneys who have maintained their credentials as board-certified experts in civil trial or tax law for 30 years. Board certification is the Florida Bar’s highest evaluation of attorneys’ competence and experience in one or more of the 24 areas of law approved by certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. Only about five percent of the state’s 93,000 licensed attorneys receive it—a mere 4,600 attorneys. Of these, only 221 lawyers statewide have maintained that status for 30 years. The program was launched in 1982 and the first crop of attorneys was certified in 1983. To commemorate this recognition, Florida Trend included Partridge in its “30-Year Club: 216 Florida Attorneys and Judges” list.
“Maintaining board certification for 30 continuous years is a significant professional accomplishment,” said outgoing Florida Bar President Gwynne A. Young of Carlton Fields in Tampa. “These individuals are leaders by example in Florida’s legal profession. We salute their commitment to excellence and professionalism in the practice of law.”
Partridge said that he feels deep appreciation for this recognition. “It’s an honor to be part of this limited group of fellow civil trial lawyers,” he said. “Florida law is constantly evolving; mastering its complexities and ramifications demands an ongoing commitment to the law and to trial practice in order to maintain certification. I’m proud to have served this region as a board-certified civil trial attorney for more than three decades.”
Partridge has been practicing in Sarasota since 1974 and has been AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell since 1979. Board-certified by the Florida Bar in civil trial practice since 1983, he has also been certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 1989. His legal specialties include medical malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death, trucking litigation, sexual abuse cases and contract litigation.
Partridge has been honored by his peers and fellow trial lawyers for his accomplishments with recognition as “Best Civil Trial Lawyer” in New Business Magazine; selection in the publication, Leading Florida Attorneys; and inclusion in two of the most respected referral publications, The Best Lawyers in America and Florida Super Lawyers. Partridge was also named one of the “Top Ten Lawyers in Sarasota and Manatee Counties” by Gulf Coast Review Business Review; “Top 100 Trial Lawyers of Florida” by the National Trial Lawyers Association, and was recently listed as one of the “Bay Area’s Best Lawyers” by Tampa Bay Metro magazine. He is also a contributing author to the Florida Bar edition of Florida Medical Malpractice Handbook, and serves on the State Executive Council of the Civil Trial Section of the Florida Bar.
