What: 2013 Disability Expo & Public Forum

In celebration of the 23rd anniversary of civil rights legislation for Americans with Disabilities, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and the Hillsborough County Alliance for Citizens With Disabilities will present the 2013 Disability Expo & Forum on Wednesday, July 24 from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. The free Expo at County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa, will celebrate programs and contributions of citizens with disabilities in the Tampa Bay area.
The 2013 Disability Expo will showcase dozens of exhibitors demonstrating advances in technologies, transportation services, adaptive vehicles, employment, disaster preparedness for special needs, and other information aimed at improving quality of life for citizens with disabilities. The theme of the event is Focus on Achievement, and advocacy awards for Outstanding Community Service, Accessibility For All, and Outstanding Youth Service will be presented.
Hillsborough County and its partners sponsor the Disability Expo & Forum annually to raise awareness of the 1990 landmark federal civil rights legislation known as the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). Attendees to the Expo are also invited to attend a public forum from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. on the 26th floor of County Center featuring Hillsborough County Commissioners, State Legislators and other community leaders highlighting recent progress to aid citizens with disabilities.
