Clearwater ― Suncoast Hospice has named Debra “Deb” Shade, RN, OCN, palliative care director for the organization. Immediately before assuming her new post, she served as manager of the Suncoast Hospice children’s program, Stepping Stones 4 Kids. Shade will continue to lead the children’s program as well as other palliative services to include Suncoast Community Care, a palliative home health program serving individuals with advanced chronic illnesses or conditions.
Shade joined the staff at Suncoast Hospice in September 2012. Prior to that, she was adolescent and young adult cancer coordinator at All Children’s
Hospital, St. Petersburg. Her career experience has been primarily in the areas of pediatric oncology and radiation oncology.
Stacy Orloff, vice president of palliative care, Suncoast Hospice, said, “We are delighted to welcome Deb to her new position. She joined us nearly a year ago and in that time, she has demonstrated outstanding skills and complete dedication to our pledge to provide quality care and compassion to our patients and families.”
Shade is a graduate of York Hospital School of Nursing, PA. Prior to moving to Florida, she held positions at Penn State Children’s Hospital, Hershey, PA, and National Childhood Cancer Foundation, Bethesda, MD.
