Sarasota, FL (June 18, 2013) – Carats Fine Jewelry and Watches of Sarasota has awarded a $1737 grant to Girls Incorporated of Sarasota County. The funds will be used to provide scholarships for families needing financial assistance for after-school and summer camp programs. Greg Twarowski, owner of Carats, has been an avid community supporter for four years, regularly donating to more than ten local agencies. “There are many non-profit organizations providing valuable services to our community, but they unfortunately often come short on their budgets. Local businesses have a responsibility to pitch in, and even small donations go a long way when help comes from many venues,” says Greg. His support of Girls Inc. began two years ago, with this most recent award coming from Greg’s commitment to donate 5% of his May proceeds to the organization. “We are thrilled to be the recipient of the funds from Carats, and appreciate the partnership and hope to be a good community partner in return,” says Interim Executive Director Kay Mathers.
Girls Incorporated of Sarasota County is dedicated to “inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold” and fulfills its mission by delivering research-based, age-appropriate, after-school and summer educational and sports programs for children ages six and up.
