|Lakeland, Fla., June 13, 2013 – Saddle Creek Logistics Services announced today that the company has been selected as a 2013 Green Supply Chain Partner by Inbound Logistics magazine.
The award recognizes 75 leading green supply chain management and logistics companies. The decision-making process is based on four benchmarks: measurable green results, sustainability innovation, continuous improvement, and industry recognition.
Saddle Creek’s fleet of eco-friendly trucks run on compressed natural gas (CNG), one of the cleanest-burning alternative fuel options available with near-zero emissions. The fleet enables the 3PL to reduce its carbon footprint by 11,400,000 pounds annually – equivalent to recycling 150 million plastic bottles.
Saddle Creek also helps its customers to reduce their carbon footprint by strategically positioning distribution centers to minimize transportation requirements.
“We’re proud to be recognized for our commitment to sustainability,” said Cliff Otto, Saddle Creek president. “From our CNG fleet to DC network optimization, we’re continually looking for new ways to reduce our environmental footprint.”
