SARASOTA, Fla., April 29, 2013…In support of Girls Inc.’s mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold and help realize their dreams of a college education, Libby’s Café + Bar’s Steve Seidensticker presented the Second Annual Libby’s Legacy Scholarship to winner Girls Inc. 2013 Girl of Year Zandy Sanders.
About Libby’s Legacy Scholarship
Created to honor Seidensticker’s mother, Libby, for which the restaurant is named and an advocate of higher education, the annual $1,000 scholarship is given to the Girl of the Year, renewable up to four years while pursuing an undergraduate college degree. “This is a much of a tribute to my mother as it is to Girls Inc. Sarasota whose commitment to inspiring and instilling confidence in girls sets a standard for organizations everywhere,” said Steve Seidensticker, co-owner of Libby’s Café + Bar. “As a family, we hope this annual scholarship helps support further life enhancing experiences during each girl’s college years that they might otherwise not have,” he added.
In addition to this year’s Girl of the Year scholarship award, Seidensticker also presented to the 2012 Girls Inc. Girl of the Year, Shayla Brown, the second installment of her scholarship. “To receive this kind of support from the Seidensticker family is tremendous for our girls. Both girls remain perfect candidates for scholarships like this and we are so appreciative to all that that the Seidensticker family has done for Girls Inc.,” says Interim Executive Director of Girls Inc., Kay Mathers.
