March Marks the Debut of New Wine List, New Specialty Cocktails and New Mod Med Dishes
Sarasota, FL (March15, 2013) – Spring brings a bounty of new flavors and seasonally inspired dishes to Carmel Cafe & Wine Bar’s dinner menu. New selections include succulent Shrimp with Vegetable Cous Cous and robust Ravioli Verde filled with spinach and ricotta, topped with fresh peas, portabella mushrooms, haricot verts and pea shoots and finished with shaved Parmesan and truffle-infused buerre blanc.
Get ready for a taste of spring when you bite into the new Spring Pea Bruschetta boasting layers of garden peas, mint pesto and fresh mozzarella atop toasted ciabatta. Savor the satisfying flavors of chard and spinach deliciously sauteed with garlic, lemon and olive oil and the great taste of the seasonal flatbread made with shrimp, red peppers, olives and both Fontina and feta cheeses.
The newest additions to the Carmel Cafe & Wine Bar Mod Med menu will be introduced to locations throughout the Tampa Bay area beginning March 20. A new wine list and specialty cocktails will also debut this month.
To complement the flavors of the new dishes, several wines have been added to the wine list for the first time, such as Segura-Viudas Cava from Aria, Spain, Acrobat King Estate Pinot Noir from Oregon and California’s Sledgehammer Zinfandel. Carmel Cafe is known for its global selection of wines available by the glass, in three-, six- and nine-ounce pours, and by the bottle. Its wine list and serving selections make it easy and enjoyable for guests to pair wines with the signature Mod Med cuisine. The full service bar also offers seasonally-inspired specialty cocktails.
“Spring is such a great time to feature the fresh foods and ripe flavors that are currently in season. Those ingredients inspired us to create new flatbreads, salads and pasta dishes as well as incorporate them into our meat and seafood entrees,” said Steve Cook, executive chef of Carmel Cafe & Wine Bar. “These are perfect additions to our Mod Med menu that offer something for everyone.”
A refreshing new salad, Tuscan Vegetable soup and a Cod Bruschetta are also joined by a hearty Mediterranean classic, Steak Madeira, a custom-grilled 10-ounce New York Strip served with Cippolini onions and a portabella Madeira dipping sauce. New featured entrees include the Roasted Tunisian Chicken glazed with a special blend of 14 spices and Pan-Seared Mahi Mahi served with

blood orange-infused cherries, toasted California almonds and haricot verts.
Many of the new and long-time favorite dishes available on the Carmel Cafe menu are ideal for sharing or can be customized as small or large plate servings.
Five new sensational cocktails featuring fresh fruits, sparkling wine, hints of mint and other flavorful ingredients also will be available at Carmel Cafe & Wine Bar starting March 18.
Newcomers to the restaurant’s menu of mixed drinks offering a twist on classic cocktails that make them more enjoyable than ever are as follows: Strawberry Rickey, Carmel Spring Tea, Southside, Mango Mojito and a Mod Med Negroni.
Carmel Café’s signature cuisine is described as Mod Med, a modern interpretation of foods and flavors traditionally associated with Mediterranean countries such as Italy, Spain, France, Greece and Morocco. The menu includes seasonal dishes highlighting produce and other ingredients when they are freshest and most flavorful. Many dishes are available in a choice of small or large plates.
Customized MenuPads placed at diners’ fingertips offer an inviting, interactive way to view images and descriptions of each dish, learn about wines from around the world, create pairings based on personal preferences or control the pacing of food and wine orders.
Carmel Café & Wine Bar restaurants are open for lunch 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Monday – Friday and for dinner from 5 – 10 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 5 – 11 p.m. Friday – Saturday. Locations also offer brunch from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
