|Meredith Garofalo has joined the Manatee County team of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast as community resource director. She will be responsible for development of community resources and relationships. Garofalo was formerly ABC 7 WWSB’s weekend meteorologist and reporter for the past 2 years and has been heavily involved in numerous charity and community events in both Sarasota and Manatee Counties. She originally is from Cleveland, Ohio, and received a Bachelors Degree in Meteorology from Valparaiso University in Northwest Indiana. She started her television career at WGN-TV in Chicago and worked at stations in Zanesville and Toledo, Ohio, as well as Rapid City, South Dakota before calling the Suncoast her home. She was a Big Sister for 2 years while in Rapid City and volunteered at the chapter in Zanesville. She’s excited to give back to the community she fell in love with over the past 2 years and positively impact the lives of local children through the many wonderful programs Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast has to offer.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast provides one-to-one mentoring relationships to children ages
6-18 years old throughout the Gulf Coast of Florida in Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, Highlands, Hardee, Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Glades and Hendry counties.
