Deadline for Applications is April 1
Tampa, FL (March 14, 2013) – Tampa Bay WaVE, a non-profit that helps entrepreneurs turn ideas into growing technology ventures, announces that the organization will begin accepting applications for its second FirstWaVE Accelerator program immediately. Finalists will be asked to conduct a live pitch to the FirstWaVE Accelerator vetting committee, before they are selected for the program.
The inaugural class of the FirstWaVE Accelerator program was comprised of eight early stage technology startups, which included extremely talented, ambitious entrepreneurs who are paving the way for greater innovation and job creation in the Tampa Bay area. The startups included SHOOTRAC, Cartooga, Secondhand Living, Drawer, Commendable Kids, Confy.co, Kite desk and SavvyCard.
“If our first class of technology startups for the accelerator program was any indication of the talent that the Tampa Bay community has to offer, Tampa Bay WaVE is extremely encouraged to see the application submissions from this next round”, said Jennifer Metz, program director.
With a $1 million grant by the U.S. Commerce Department to support new web and mobile app ventures, Tampa Bay WaVE’s FirstWaVE Accelerator will offer a wide variety of benefits to startups in all phases of development. Local entrepreneurs and business executives will lead bootcamps and other workshops. Clients of the accelerator program will be given dedicated mentors, opportunities to meet with investors, access to a team of dedicated student interns, and even some free professional services. In addition, Tampa Bay WavE will provide coworking or office space in the First WaVE Venture Center located in Rivergate Tower, an iconic class A building in downtown Tampa owned by In-Rel Properties.
Applications must be submitted by April 1, 2013. To review the application and requirements or to apply, click on this link https://tampabaywave.wufoo.com/forms/firstwave-venture-center-application/. There is no fee to apply. The next FirstWaVE Accelerator class will be announced on April 9th. All accepted ventures are required to attend a full-day Tech Venture Bootcamp on April 17th.
