The public can vote now and make Tarpon Springs High School’s mascot, the Sponger, earn the title of USA Today High School Sports Best Mascot. The Sponger is one of 255 high school mascots in the country selected for the contest.

First, the Spongers need to win the state round, which ends at 3 p.m. ET March 5. The state winners will advance to the second round, where they will be divided among six regions. The regional round will begin at 11 a.m. ET March 6 and ends at 3 p.m. ET March 14. The six winners then will compete in the national round, beginning at 11 a.m. ET March 15 and ending at 3 p.m. ET March 25.
Must be at least 13 years old to vote. There is no limit to the number of times a person can vote as long as the Best Mascot Rules are followed.
Tarpon Springs High School was established in 1905. It’s mascot, the Sponger, reflects the town’s long history of sponge diving.
