SARASOTA, Fla. (February 8, 2013) — More than 400 business and community leaders kicked off The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce’s 93rd year at the Chamber’s Annual Kick-Off Breakfast today.
During the event, keynote speaker Mark Wilson, President of the Florida Chamber presented the Six Pillar™ framework, which serves as an organizing force for strategic planning at local, regional and state levels, harnessing fragmented viewpoints into a common and consistent conversation. The Greater Sarasota Chamber is investigating how its new “Sarasota Tomorrow” projects will contribute to the region’s success in the critical Six Pillar™ factor affecting our future quality of life.
Local Chamber President Steve Queior said, “Many Sarasota Tomorrow-Next initiatives fit perfectly with the state plan, including becoming nationally competitive in education and workforce programs; being a more business-friendly area, and improving key locales such as downtown Sarasota and north trail.”
Additionally, Chamber Chair Nick Gladding, Attorney at Law at Dunlap and Moran, P.A. announced the Chamber’s 2013 goals, new member benefits and opportunities for the coming year, including key objectives of its Sarasota Tomorrow-Next initiative to secure a more prosperous future for our region.
Gladding described 2013 Chamber programs for employers to build five aspects of their business or the community; networking, visibility and recognition, increasing their bottom line, gaining knowledge and improving the business climate and the economy. He also noted increases in collaboration, saying, “The regional approach in so many areas will lead to increased success and benefits for us all.”
Additional highlights of the event were a congressional update from Congressman Vern Buchanan, as well as the recognition of two Chamber Volunteers. Adam Miller of Filta Environmental Kitchen Solutions and Joe Schiess of Eager Beaver received the Chamber Partner of the Year Award.
