SAINT LEO – Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who served as the state’s chief executive from 1999 until 2007, will appear at Saint Leo University (www.saintleo.edu) February 13 to deliver the keynote address at the university’s Fourth Annual International Business Conference.
The conference is organized by the Donald R. Tapia School of Business and held at the University Campus from February 13 to 15. The theme is “Sustainable Development in a Global Economy: Creating Vibrant Economies.”
The former governor will speak at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, in the Marion Bowman Activities Center on “Leading in a Climate of Change.” Admission to the talk is free and open to the public, but tickets are required to reserve seating. The university is located at 33701 State Road 52, four miles east of Interstate 75 (Exit 285). Parking is readily available in the campus garage.
The former governor holds a bachelor’s degree in Latin American Affairs from the University of Texas and began his career in commercial real estate development. While governor, he focused public and state policy attention on K-12 public education and health care policy. Since leaving office, he has headed his own consulting company, and continued his interests in education reform. Additionally, he has co-authored with Clint Bolick a book titled Immigration Wars, to be released this spring by Simon & Schuster.
The conference will continue through Friday, February 15 with sessions scheduled both in the Saint Leo Student Community Center and in the School of Business building. Some programs are geared to academic audiences and business researchers, while others draw on the experience of professionals and executives in the business world.

• “Accounting: What Does the Future Hold?” (Friday)
In addition, local business leader and newly elected Florida State Senator Wilton Simpson of Dade City will speak Thursday during lunch. Former State Representative Shawn Harrison of New Tampa will speak Friday during lunch.
Registration is required to attend Thursday and Friday programs. Students may attend at a deeply discounted rate.
