Ticket sales for the 25th Annual Celebration luncheon benefitting Girls Incorporated of Sarasota County will open on January 28th, 2013. The luncheon, which is held at the Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota, is being sponsored by JCI Jones Chemicals, Inc. and will honor 13 year-old “Girl of the Year” Zandy Sanders. The “She Knows Where She’s Going” Award is being presented to The Observer Media Group Executive Editor Lisa Walsh. This honor is presented to one outstanding woman for her contribution to the community and her superlative personal and professional achievements. “Lisa truly represents the strong, smart and bold characteristics of a ‘She Knows Where She’s Going’ honoree,” says Mathers. “From her work in the community, to her strong business leadership, to her continued work with Girls Inc., she is an advocate and an important part of Sarasota. We are so proud to call her a member of the Girls Inc. family.”
This year’s Celebration Luncheon, co-chaired by Johanna Gustafsson and Chris Pickney. The luncheon’s 25th anniversary will feature a retrospective of all the past honorees, which includes Walsh’s daughter, Emily, who was honored in 2006 (the two make up the first mother-daughter honorees). The luncheon will also feature the “Power of the Girls” showcasing the award winning programs of Girls Inc. namely MicroSociety.
