Hillsborough County Commissioners will join staff from Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Services staff and Florida Home Partnership, Inc. in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Jan. 11, to celebrate the opening of Alexander Woods Townhomes at 273 Alexander Woods Drive in Plant City. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a tour of the new townhomes.
Alexander Woods Townhomes is an 80-unit development that was recently acquired by Florida Home Partnership, a non-profit developer, through the County’s Affordable Housing Services Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP).
County Commission Vice Chair Sandra L. Murman, District 1; Commissioner Lesley “Les” Miller, Jr., District 3; and Commissioner Al Higginbotham, District 4, are expected to be on hand to talk about the NSP, the economic impact of the funding for the County, the support from the County’s housing partners, and to welcome potential homebuyers.
The townhomes are two and three bedroom units moderately priced for qualified homebuyers. The development has 14 new townhomes currently available for sale. Ten additional units are under construction and will be ready for purchase in mid-2013.
The homes feature kitchens with all new appliances; bathrooms with new fixtures; energy-efficient air-conditioning; and high ceilings. When the development is complete, amenities will include a pool and clubhouse, a picnic area, and a playground.
Through the NSP, Hillsborough County received $27 million to purchase and redevelop abandoned or foreclosed properties, like Alexander Woods, to create affordable, safe homes and remove blight from neighborhoods.
Florida Home Partnership, Inc. is a nonprofit developer and a partner with the County’s Affordable Housing Services Department to provide affordable homeownership opportunities.
