Sarasota, FL – The Pineapple Drop is back this New Year’s Eve in downtown Sarasota, Florida. “New York has the apple and we have the pineapple,” said Rich Swier, Jr., founder of the creative incubator The Hub, a sponsor of the event. “This year we have added more local original live music and DJs to the event and we are gearing up for a great experience that will boost the coffers of our local merchants while giving residents a great family friendly party all day long and a cool experience at night.” said Swier.
The biggest party in Sarasota kicks off at 2pm along Main Street, Lemon Avenue and State Street. The schedule is as follows:
1pm: Family friendly Carnival opens and stays open until 1:30am including rides for adults and kids, and a fun house.
7pm: Main Street opens with entertainment on all stages and runs throughout the night. Drinks available from vendors as well as in local restaurants and bars.
Midnight: Pineapple Drop and New Year’s celebration.
The event is free and open to the public, funded primarily by sponsors and donors. “We are taking the area’s biggest New Year’s Eve Party and making it better. We expect a
huge crowd from all over the region because we are bringing a more diverse lineup of entertainment,” said Swier. Musical acts include: Big Blu House, Meteoreyes, New Vega, DJ Kensi, DJ Supreme 1, Doug Deming & Jewel Tines, Cherry Bombs.
The Pineapple Drop is funded through the non-profit organization Sarasota Promotions, a 501c3 and sponsors. Sponsors include the HuB, Ivory Lounge, The Gator Club, Mattison’s and the 105.9 THE BUZZ.
