Fleming’s welcomes Miguel Cruz as the new Chef Partner of the Naples restaurant.Cruz is passionate to bring his standard of culinary excellence to the Naples community.
|Raised in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, Miguel Cruz has always had a passion for food.As a young boy, he fell in love with the culinary arts when watching his Grandmother prepare homemade dishes and sauces with fresh produce from his family’s garden.
Cruz went on to college to study anthropology at the Inter American University of San German, Puerto Rico, where he realized that cooking was his passion and was eager to learn more about its history, technique and culture.In 1996, Cruz officially began his culinary career in a small restaurant called Salsitas in Boquerón, Puerto Rico.In 2000, Cruz moved to Orlando, Florida where he continued his career in hospitality at such fine hotels as The Peabody Orlando, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Gaylord Palms and The Waldof Astoria collection by Hilton.In 2004, he returned to Puerto Rico and was mentored by well-known French Chef Aaron Wratten at The Horned Dorset Primavera in Rincon.
In August 2012, Cruz was offered the position of Chef Partner at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Naples, Florida.
