In honor of their 40th Anniversary, Café L’Europe will be unveiling a new logo and announcing the winners of their logo contest on Thursday, January 3, 2013.
SARASOTA, Florida (December 18, 2012) – This January, Café L’Europe will be celebrating 40 years since they first opened their doors in John Ringling’s original real estate office, the oldest building on St. Armand’s Circle.
In honor of this momentous occasion, Café L’Europe Proprietor, Betsie Coolidge, wanted to bring their original logo out of retirement, but she wanted to make sure that the change would be well received by her loyal clients so she decided to have a contest to see if her customers agreed.
With two grand prizes of “Dinner for 4” (valued at up to $500.00 ea.) on the line, the contest which was announced via the restaurants “Café Club” newsletter and through their Facebook page received over 300 votes with an overwhelming 5 to 1 margin in favor of bringing back the 1973 logo.
On Thursday, January 3rd at 11:30 a.m., Coolidge will be unveiling the new sign in front of the historic building. Everyone is welcome to attend the brief ceremony which will give way to a special luncheon that will kick off their newest menu. The new menu will feature favorites from the original 1973 menu like Crepes de Mer, Dover Sole Meunière and a Café Chicken Salad served in a Pineapple Boat.
Guests who stay for lunch will receive a complimentary glass of wine with the purchase of any regularly priced entrée and they will be among the first to see the new Café L’Europe branded products. The items, which will be available for sale, include etched wine glasses, our signature Herbs de Provence mixture, a delightful White Balsamic Vinaigrette, a yummy Maple Pecan Dressing, and a specialty blend of coffee beans that is sure to please even the most discerning coffee lover.
“We could not let this landmark anniversary go unnoticed” said Café L’Europe President, Betsie Coolidge. “40 years as one of Sarasota’s most beloved fine dining restaurants is a big deal and we wanted to celebrate in a big way”.
In search of a more modern look, the original logo was replaced by the current logo in 1998. The results of the contest made it clear that many area residents still had fond memories of the 1973 logo which is more representative of the warm ambience and continental feel of the restaurant.
