Farmers Market Set to Open in January 2013
A soon-to-open outdoor farmers market is seeking vendors for what will be the largest multi-cultural farmers market in Clearwater, offering produce and artisan goods with a focus on foods from many cultures.
The Clearwater Gateway Farmers Market will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, Jan. 12 on the 1200 block of Cleveland St. near Missouri Ave. It will be open to the public every Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM.
Clearwater is home to many cultures including Hispanic, German, Irish, Polish, Greek, and Italian to name a few. Foods, produce, artisan goods and art from all traditions in Pinellas County are welcome. Music performers are also needed to provide entertainment. The market is looking to create a central gathering place where the community can come together for regularly scheduled events and activities offering a sense of place and a community destination.
The Clearwater Gateway Farmers’ Market is a partnership between the City of Clearwater, the Pinellas County Health Department’s Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) grant, the InterCultural Advocacy Center, and Pinellas County Health & Human Services. Current sponsors include Pinellas Community Foundation, Law Office of Francisco D. Coll, and Greektown Grille.
