BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (Dec. 3, 2012) – Bonita Springs-based WCI Communities announced that it has appointed Keith E. Bass as chief executive officer effective today. Bass has more than 20 years of homebuilding experience, and has held a number of executive leadership positions at national homebuilding and development companies, most recently as president of the South Region of Ryland Homes. He has served on WCI’s board of directors since early 2012. Bass replaces David L. Fry, president and chief executive officer, who has resigned from WCI for personal reasons, effective immediately.
Steve Plavin, WCI’s chairman said, “We are delighted that Keith has agreed to accept this leadership role with WCI. Keith has a great track record in land acquisition and homebuilding. He is a highly experienced senior executive with the right skill set and market expertise to lead WCI as the company expands both organically and through targeted acquisitions. With the successful $175 million capital raise earlier this year, the company is poised to execute on strategic land acquisitions in key Florida markets. We also thank David for his four years of leadership as CEO. He successfully led the company through its Chapter 11 restructuring in 2008, while maintaining the WCI brand and successfully restarting its homebuilding operations.”
“I am extremely excited to expand my role with WCI,” said Bass. “The company has a deserved and unparalleled reputation for providing exceptional lifestyle and amenity-rich communities, along with the highest quality homes. I look forward to working more closely with the exceptionally talented WCI team to continue this legacy as we execute our strategy and position the company for future success that will benefit its customers, employees, business partners and the communities of which it is a part.”
Fry said, “I have every confidence that WCI will go from strength to strength under the leadership of Keith and the senior management team. WCI is a talented and unique organization, and I am proud to have played my part in guiding the company through the recent unprecedented challenging economic environment.”
