FREE “Behind the Scenes” Guided Cultural Tour
Friday, November 30, 12noon to 1pm
Begins at Lykes Gaslight Square Park
What better way to spend your Friday lunch hour than to take a walk for a backstage tour of the Straz Center for Performing Arts, followed by a jaunt over to the HB Plant Museum to get a peak at their renowned Victorian Christmas décor? No registration needed – just show up!
‘Tis the season to give. Walkers are asked to bring a teen toy and a canned food item to help support Metropolitan Ministries. There will be a donation bin at the Do the Local Motion Village. The goal is to collect a minimum of 100 cans of yams. And the Teen Toy Drive Flyer has more details about what types of items they are seeking.
1st Annual Holiday Shopping Hop

Do the Local Motion becomes Do the Local Shopping as walkers discover the most unique holiday gifts to be found in town. And it is the scenic path of the Tampa Riverwalk that will take them there. From Kahwa Café, the shopping begins at Florida Museum of Photographic Gift Shop, filled with exquisite picture frames, stunning photographs for framing, and colorful photo collection books; something for everyone on your list. All Do the Local Shopping Walkers will receive 10% off their purchases!
A stroll along the Riverwalk brings the group to the Tampa Museum of Art’s “Museum Store,” just in time for their annual holiday sale, with 10% off all gifts (20% for members) and complimentary treats, drinks, and gift wrap. Their shop features the finest selection of art books, home decor items, exhibition-related gifts, and easily the area’s best selection of art, fashion and culture magazines. And don’t forget the handcrafted goods of local artists and artisans.
Back on the Riverwalk and over to the HB Plant Museum Store for tempting delights, including the original recipe for Plant Hotel key lime cookies, teas, and coffees; and all at 10% off for Do The Local Shopping Walkers. The shop also features a wide variety of home décor, jewelry, purses, holiday ornaments, table linens, and children’s gifts.
The best of shopping and a good cardio workout all in one, in Downtown Tampa! This walk is free, but you are asked to register in advance. Holiday Hop – Featuring Downtown’s Tour of Trees

If you are not in the holiday spirit by now, this mid-December holiday walk features the most beautifully decorated trees of Tampa’s Downtown (both indoors and out). No need to register for this one. And it is not too late to bring your donation teen toy and/or canned yam to the walk. The donation bins will be once again set up at the starting point… the Do the Local Motion Village.
The Tampa Downtown Partnership’s popular Do the Local Motion program offers free guided walking tours of Tampa’s Downtown from October through May, every other Friday,12noon to 1pm, plus periodic evening and weekend dates. The Friday walks meet at Lykes Gaslight Square, 410 Franklin Street at DTLM Village. Come early to browse the exhibitor booths. A healthy and social way to enjoy your lunch hour, and learn some interesting tidbits about Tampa’s Downtown! A tip jar is set up at the Village booth for contributions to help keep tours free.
