New Book and Website Encourages Readers to Unveil and Optimize their Inner Gift Through Proper Nutrition, Exercise and Self-Discovery
Tampa, FL (November 27, 2012) – America is sick and needs an intervention. We eat garbage like it’s good for us, avoid exercise like it’s bad for us, and spend most of our free time in front of screens living vicariously through celebrities or computer generated avatars. Because of this, we are overweight, out of shape and failing to live up to our true potential. But, according to author and entrepreneur Tim Martin, it doesn’t have to be that way. In his new book, Fitoids: Simple Truths to Lose Weight, Gain Strength and Be Happy, (Infinity Publishing, September 2012, $12.95) he provides “Fitoids” – essential nuggets of truth that are easy to understand and even easier to follow – that can lead to a leaner, healthier and more fulfilled country.
According to Martin, “Did you know that we, as a population, visit the physician’s office one BILLION times each year. Think about that: a BILLION. How much do you think all that costs, and not just in co-pays but also insurance premium increases, time off work, over-the-counter medications, prescription medications…the list just gets longer. And get this, most of those that visit the doctor leave with nothing but advice: eat better, reduce your stress, quit smoking, etc. Problem is nobody tells them how. My goal is to change that.”
Tim considers Fitoids: Simple Truths to Lose Weight, Gain Strength and Be Happy and its online counterpart Fitoids.com to be the treatment plan to help live a healthier and fulfilling life. The book is divided into three sections: Be Light (nutrition), Be Strong (exercise), Become (life goals), with each chapter dedicated to a specific Fitoid such as “Don’t Waste Time Counting Calories“, “Please Do Not Feed the Humans . . . Crap” and “It’s Not About You. It’s About Your Gift.” Throughout the book Martin offers guidance and encouragement (mixed with a good dose of humor) on topics relating to diet, physical fitness, stress relief, discovering your individual gift and living a richer, fuller life.
A partner to the book, Fitoids.com offers visitors recipes, additional advice and words of wisdom and links to resouces that will help as they work their way toward a healthier life. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Tim Martin started a small marketing firm at age 27. As the firm grew, he earned an MBA and began speaking as a marketer and motivator. By 2004 he began working primarily with individual professionals to optimize their performance. He then earned a Masters in Exercise Physiology and became a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). Martin has completed many marathons and triathlons, has climbed Rainier (Seattle), McKinley (Alaska), Kilimanjaro (Africa), HuShun (China), and is an experienced rock climber and desert survivalist, as well as having served as a youth coach, Taekwondo instructor and a mentor for many.
