TAMPA, FL – Small Business Saturday is this weekend, and millions of people will take advantage of great deals across the Tampa Bay area and the nation. As the area’s leading economic development organization, Tampa Bay & Company has teamed up with local businesses to spread the word and encourage locals and visitors alike to get out and support small businesses in Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay & Company has compiled a video encouraging shoppers throughout the Bay area to support locally-owned businesses. The video, which will live on YouTube.com/VisitTampaBay and other VisitTampaBay social media networks, highlights local businesses, how shoppers can take advantage great deals and why it’s important to “shop local” and support small businesses in Tampa Bay.
“Visitors spend more than $3.4 billion in our community each year, much of it in locally-owned businesses,” says Vice President of Marketing & Communications Doug McClain. “The success of many small businesses is dependent on the support of visitors, as well as residents.”
Small Business Saturday is a national effort, founded by American Express, to support small businesses across the country during one of the biggest shopping weekend of the year. In 2011, more than 100 million shopped at independently-owned small businesses on Small Business Saturday.
