ONLINE VOTING DEADLINE:
The last day for online voting is December 31, 2012. The system will only recognize one vote for each unique MAC address on the web for one African American candidate and one Hispanic candidate.
The public is now able to vote for their favorite nominee to determine those selected for the honor. Honorees will be recognized on the Wall of Fame at the Florida State Fair. On the website there is more information on each of the nominees. The honorees and/or their immediate family members (if the nominee is deceased) will be invited to the ceremony and presentation taking place on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Florida State Fair.
The 109th annual Florida State Fair will take place February 7-18, 2013. This year, the Fair will celebrate Florida’s rich history from the landing of Ponce de Leon on the east coast of Florida in 1513. There will be cultural and historical exhibits along with a treasure hunt called the Conquista’tour’. The Florida State Fair – always in Tampa and always in February – is organized by the Florida State Fair Authority under the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam leads the Fair Authority, which oversees the Florida State Fairgrounds and the annual Florida State Fair. The Florida State Fair Authority is a non-profit organization which operates from revenues generated from the annual State Fair and other ongoing events during the year. The Fair Authority does not receive any state tax appropriations from Hillsborough County, City of Tampa, nor the State of Florida.
