TAMPA, Fla. (November 15, 2012) – Tampa-based MamaBear App was recently named “One of the World’s Most Promising Companies” by news source CNBC. The first-of-its-kind MamaBear app first launched in August 2012 and monitors location, social media and safe-speed driving. The company was chosen by CNBC after the news source reviewed contenders from Startup Open, an annual competition developed by the Kaufman Foundation recognizing promising young ventures and listed MamaBear as one of the top 25 most promising companies for the year, kicking off Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Designed for simplicity, the MamaBear app was developed by a talented group of digital visionaries, experienced technology entrepreneurs and a group of parents with a shared passion for fostering family unity. The group is led by founder Steve MacDonald, a multi-year recipient of the Inc. 5000 award and creator of the highly successful myMatrixx – a company specializing in pharmacy and healthcare services.
“Our vision is one of worry-free parenting with a mission to create tools that provide parents a peace of mind while giving children needed freedom,” said Steve MacDonald, founder of geoWaggle, LLC, parent company of MamaBear. “We’re proud to be a part of Florida’s entrepreneurial technology community.”
According to MacDonald, the inspiration for the MamaBear app was a casual conversation between company co-founder Stuart Kime and a frustrated parent commiserating about the time it takes to keep up with their children’s social media activities. “It’s a growing concern among parents and seemed like fertile ground for new business opportunities,” he added.
MamaBear is the first-ever, all-in-one parenting app to monitor location, safe-speed driving and social media activity. The app is in public beta and is available on iOs or Android. For more information, visit Mamabearapp.com or Google Play or Apple iTunes.
