CLEARWATER (November 15, 2012) – WorkNet Pinellas focuses on providing priority workforce services to veterans with barriers to employment, disabled veterans, and their spouses. For veterans recently discharged or who have been out of the service for many years, WorkNet can be their first step in entering the workforce.
At One-Stop Career Centers located throughout Pinellas County, veterans work with staff to plan a career, attend workshops, acquire skills and education, find jobs, and take advantage of many other resources. WorkNet also administers state and federally funded employment and training programs to assist veterans. WorkNet’s Veterans team includes Veteran Employment Representatives, Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialists, and Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER).
This year, WorkNet launched the Transitioning Veterans Network (TVN) to support veterans in transition. The forum meets twice a month and is designed to assist veterans in accelerating their career transition process. To address the employment issues facing veterans today, staff reaches out to local employers to educate them on the benefits of hiring veterans and the unique skills and experience they can bring to the civilian workforce.
WorkNet is dedicated to helping all qualified veterans in their career goals. For more information about all of WorkNet Pinellas’ programs and services for veterans please visit www.worknetpinellas.org or call (727) 524-4344.
