St. Petersburg, FL and Foster City, CA (November 14, 2012) – PSCU and Visa Inc. (NYSE: V) today announced that members of the CUSO’s Member-Owner credit unions will soon have access to Visa’s new digital wallet service, V.me. Initially, members of three PSCU credit unions that are participating as early adopters of V.me will be able to sign up for the service to make simple and secure online payments, without the bother of repeatedly entering account number, bill-to and ship-to information.
Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union (St. Paul, MN), Listerhill Credit Union (Sheffield, AL) and CEFCU (Citizens Equity First Credit Union, headquartered in Peoria, IL) are participating as pilots by having their card art displayed in the V.me wallet.
Members of the three participating credit unions will be able to enroll their existing Visa and other payment card accounts, allowing them to pay online by simply entering a user name and password at checkout, whether transacting on a PC or mobile device. The ability for additional PSCU credit unions to participate in the V.me wallet will be announced in early 2013. As V.me acceptance continues to gain momentum at a growing number of eCommerce merchants, PSCU and Visa will work closely to broadly deliver the service to PSCU’s entire base of Member-Owner credit unions.
“PSCU’s participation with Visa and their V.me digital wallet service reflects our commitment to continue giving Member-Owners multiple options for engaging members in the payments value stream,” said Michael Kelly, PSCU President and CEO. “Brand presence, particularly in the emerging mobile channel, is essential to keep credit unions at the center of their members’ lives.”
V.me presents an opportunity for credit unions to strengthen member relationships by offering them a new service that addresses a growing desire to shop online – from any device with ease and simplicity. Through credit union branding and Visa-backing, members can shop with comfort knowing they’re protected by layers of security within Visa’s industry-leading network. Once logged into V.me, all that’s required to make a purchase is a simple click of a mouse, touch on a mobile browser, or in the future, a wave at the physical point-of-sale.
