St. Petersburg – National University of Health Sciences recently opened its second clinic in the St. Petersburg area. The NUHS Whole Health Center – Pinellas Park now offers comprehensive chiropractic and integrative medical services to members of the community, and is welcoming new patients.
The university’s president, Dr. James Winterstein, and Mr. Tom Schonauer, chairman of the university’s board of trustees, were on hand at a recent grand opening celebration on Friday, November 9th. Dr. Joseph Stiefel, dean of the College of Professional Studies for National University’s Florida campus, had the honor of cutting the ribbon.
Also joining the ceremony were: State Senator Dennis Jones; Dr. Phil Nicotera, provost for health education at St. Petersburg College; Ms. Patricia Johnson, Pinellas Park city council member; Mr. Michael Gustafson, city manager of Pinellas Park; and Mr. Joe Incorvia, principal planner for the City of Pinellas Park.
The $1.9 million newly constructed clinic boasts 10 treatment rooms, a physical rehabilitation room, as well as classroom facilities. The university hopes that it will become a model for excellence in integrative medicine —the practice of combining expertise from multiple medical specialties for better patient care. The university plans to expand personnel and services at the clinic over the next few years.
The clinic’s physician, Dr. Mohsen Radpasand, holds both a DC and MD degree as well as a master’s degree in research. He supervises a team of graduate level interns trained in chiropractic medicine. “We offer a full range of health services and medical care for the entire family,” says Dr. Radpasand.
The new clinic is the eighth in National University system, and the second in Florida. The university’s first Florida clinic, which opened in 2009, is housed in the Caruth Health Education Center of St. Petersburg College (SPC) and exclusively serves SPC faculty and students.
National University of Health Sciences is proud to be a new health care provider in the Tampa Bay area. It currently offers the doctor of chiropractic degree at its campus in St. Petersburg through the University Partnership Center at SPC. It offers additional degrees in naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, oriental medicine, massage therapy and more at its historic Lombard campus in suburban Chicago.
