St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) posted a 12% increase in service for October 2012 over October 2011, following an 8% increase in September 2012 over September 2011. Overall, the year-to-date growth is up 4%. Domestically, both Allegiant and Vision Airlines have increased service during the past year.
Allegiant celebrates its 6th Anniversary of service this week at PIE. Launching in 2006 with 12 destinations, Allegiant has doubled to 24 non-stop cities, most recently launching non-stop to Harrisburg, PA. Airport Director Noah Lagos states “Non-stop low cost service combined with the airport’s ease and convenience is a winning formula for Allegiant’s continued success with the traveling public. We have enjoyed a great partnership with Allegiant over the last 6 years. In 2013, we expect to see new destinations and added seat capacity. More choices and capacity to meet the ever growing demand for flights from PIE.”
